The Hiawatha Light Rail Transit line connects the Interchange in downtown Minneapolis to the Airport and the Mall of America. Service began in 2004.

The Counties Transit Improvement Board has committed to funding 50% of the operating subsidy for the Hiawatha Light Rail Transit Project.
