History
Formed in 2008, as a result of legislation passed by the Minnesota Legislature, the Counties Transit Improvement Board has invested millions of dollars in metropolitan area transitway projects.
The five member counties - Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington - are home to 92 percent of Twin Cities metro residents, and contain more than 92 percent of its tax base.
Previously, the Board was known as the Metropolitan Transitway Development Board, which included Carver and Scott counties. Both counties now serve as ex-officio members.
